Upgrade from Kawai ES110: Yamaha CP88 , CK88, or something else entirely?
TL;DR Looking to upgrade from my ES110, mainly interested in more sound options, wondering what instruments to look at, CK88 and CP88 have caught my eye.
I've been mostly happy with my ES110 over the last 5 years. I bought it to get back into the habit of playing piano on a regular basis at home and it's been perfect for that. However, lately I've found myself wanting some more options in terms of different sounds (especially some more high-quality electric piano sounds, but some pads and synths to play around with would also be nice). Also, the action of the ES110 has been a bit noisy (clacking and rattling sounds, especially on a couple of individual keys around the mid- octaves). So I guess I'm in the market for a new piano/keyboard. I'm willing to spend up to €1,500, and I've found the CP88 used (including damper pedal and a decent pair of studio speakers).
During a recent visit to the local big-box music store, I got a chance to play around with the CK88 for a little bit and had a lot of fun with it. However, I hear that the CP88 keybed (and probably even the one I currently have) is far superior to the CK88's. Haven't had a chance yet to try out the CP88, but hear that it's a top-level instrument (if maybe not at versatile in terms of different sounds compared to the CK).
Whatever I'll end up getting, the new piano will very probably also be mostly for practicing and playing around at home, although who knows, maybe there'll be some actual gigging sometime in the future as well, but for now I don't really see that happening.
I've already done some research, looked at video reviews, browsed various forums and so on, but I'm still curious to hear your guys' opinions. #audio #music source
