Need help finding a mini road trip destination near Chicago for my senior lab
Until the last few years, my pup and I loved getting in the car for long road trips and getting out in nature.
We were in the east coast, and there were plenty of places to stop.
That’s not as possible anymore since his ability to walk is really limited now. We don’t have a lot of time left together before he crosses the rainbow bridge, and I’d like to take him on a 1-2 hour drive somewhere in nature where he can just see some stuff.
It’s honestly mostly for me. To him, grass is grass. But he does love riding in the car.
We’re based in Chicago and I’ve got a 4Runner fwiw. Ideally I’d love to get him out to the western North Carolina mountains sometime later this summer, depending on how we’re doing by then. But for now I’m starting small, looking for somewhere within a 1-2 hour drive where we can get a good view or some nature without much walking required.
