Parota trunk - Bowtie inlays or just epoxy

Picked up an old parota slab that had split apart along a crack. It's such nice wood I don't want to give up on it. They look they have been covered in polyurethane so I plan on thinning them both down with a router and refinishing them with wax for a more natural look, but not sure what would be the best approach to put them back together. Bowtie inlays top and bottom or just epoxy resin? Both pieces are between 20 kgs each.... will epoxy hold that together? Don't have a lot of experience using epoxy so would appreciate some advice.
