Separating from my partner of 11 years. I was a stay at home dad for 10 of those years, raising my 7 & 10 yo boys.
She’s buying out my equity and my name will come off the deed when the deal is done.
I’m going to propose that I rent the 10x12’ metal shed on slab that I turned into a woodworking shop from her, but maybe not. IDK.
I also don’t know where I’m going next, but I won’t be buying in this market with these interest rates, not that I could afford any of the asking prices around here anyways, and with my income I can barely afford rent anywhere nearby to be close to my boys.
I’m starting a new career at 44, HVAC, so part of me wants to liquidate all the woodworking tools for now, spend the $$$ on HVAC related tools, since those are the tools that’ll be making me money going forward. Yeah, that’s what I’ll be doing.
I guess I just wanted to process all that out loud, to some people who know how much it all means.
I know in a few years time I’ll be able to snap up a fixer-upper house with huge upside potential. With my general carpentry skills and newly developed HVAC knowledge, I’ll be in a unique position to capitalize on the right deal. Then execute a renovation, saving thousands of dollars with my own two hands. Of course my Workshop 2.0 will be even better, but it still all stings for now.
