I started saying I don't know instead of pretending
I used to bullshit my way through every conversation. Someone asks about something I know nothing about and I'd just nod along or make something up to not look stupid. Started a new job a few months ago and decided to just be honest when I don't know something. I actually don't know anything about that, what's the deal with it?
Every single time the other person lights up and explains it and suddenly we're having an actual conversation instead of two people performing at each other. Sometimes if its something that piques my interest i may get my phone out and research unless i end up scrolling endlessly or on myprize somehow. Turns out people don't respect the one who knows everything. They respect the one who's comfortable not knowing.
