Hardwood floor moisture issue??

Image : https://imgur.com/gallery/hard-wood-floors-KAEGbIY

Hi all — I rent an apartment with hardwood floors and recently removed an area rug that was directly on the floor (no pad). After removing it, I noticed darkened patches and the floor feels rough, like raised grain, where the rug was.

From what I’m reading, it seems like moisture got trapped under the rug and affected the finish. I removed the rug immediately and have been drying the area with airflow for a few hours — it’s already lightening, but still rough to the touch. No warping or buckling that I can see.

Does this usually resolve as it fully dries, or is this considered permanent damage to the finish? As a renter, I’m trying not to do anything invasive, but I’d like to fix if possible.

Appreciate any insight — thanks!
