RTX 4070 Super – hotspot hitting 101°C / GPU hitting 81ºC

Hey everyone,

Yesterday I discovered that, for some reason, my MSI Afterburner had the **power limit locked at 65% and the temp limit at 65°C,** and believe it or not, it had apparently been like this for over a month (since before the release of Crimson Desert, because the game felt completely different after I fixed this and unlocked the GPU’s full potential).

A small detail: some time ago I did a slight undervolt (if you can even call it that), just a very light one to test. (Image here: https://imgur.com/a/qjXK8M7 )

After fixing the settings (everything back to default except for that undervolt), I started monitoring things more closely. Here’s what I’m seeing on my RTX 4070 Super (max values reached, HWInfo screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/KmJOh4a ):

* GPU: \~81°C
* Hotspot: \~101°C
* Delta: \~20°C

From what I’ve researched, this seems a bit high, especially the hotspot and the delta.

I’m not experiencing any noticeable performance drops, but I’m a bit concerned about being close to the limit, possibly even damaging the card, or if something isn’t quite right. It’s also worth mentioning that I previously had a different case with different fans, and temperatures were more or less the same.

**General setup:**

* Mid tower case with good internal space (aquarium-style, but as mentioned, I previously had a 100% mesh front case)

**Airflow:**

* 3 side intake fans
* 3 bottom intake fans
* 1 rear exhaust fan
* 3 top exhaust fans

I’d like to hear your thoughts:

* Is this hotspot “normal” for this card?
* Does a \~20°C delta indicate a problem?
* If it’s not normal, is it worth trying a more aggressive undervolt or should I investigate airflow first?

Any insight is much appreciated
