A Tilt of His Head?

Just going to start of by saying I'm definitely not an expert in this area, but I have always been fixated on figuring out the exact timing of things. Here is my take on a 10-minute analysis of what happened yesterday, using the information I had available to me. I will not be citing sources; this is just a rough (but as accurate as possible) estimation of the events.

The facts:

1. The assailant was positioned on a roof \~436 feet away.
2. There would have been an average muzzle velocity of \~3240 feet per second.
3. At the location of the rally at that time of day, speed of sound would have been \~1125 feet per second.
4. The footage I used for analysis was filmed at 30 fps.
5. The average touch stimulus reaction time for a 78-year-old male is 250ms.

By analyzing the footage, I was able to determine the exact frame where Trump instinctively reacted to something (the round piercing his ear). I then noted that the sound from the first shot was picked up by the microphone at that exact same moment. (I will not be accounting for any delays in electronic equipment or distance variations introduced by the recording devices. The observed timing should be within any margin of error for this exercise.)

I then worked backwards from that frame to where I am reasonably confident that the shot was fired, based on the speed of sound and the distance covered. (0.38 seconds earlier.)

From there I was able to work forward based on velocity and distance covered to determine the exact frame where Trump would have been struck by the round. (0.134 seconds after firing.)

To verify my findings, I then added the average reaction time for a person of Trump's age and moved forward the appropriate number of frames. This lined up perfectly with the first frame in which I noticed an instinctive reaction from Trump.

To summarize:

1. The trigger was pulled at t=0
2. The round struck Trump in the ear at t=0.134 (4 frames later)
3. Trump reacted to the touch stimulus at t=0.38, precisely when the shot can be heard. (7 frames later, or 11 frames after the bullet left the gun.)

*The incredible thing about all of this is the fact that during the 4-frame interval between the round leaving the chamber and piercing Trump's ear, you can see him rotating his head to the right, thus reducing his profile.*

While I don't have any data to support the exact angle the projectile was taking through the air, it seems reasonable to conclude, based on the location of the injury he sustained, that those 4 frames (0.13 seconds) saved Donald Trump's life.
