RTX 5070 Ti + Ryzen 7 7800X3D sudden hard shutdowns in…

RTX 5070 Ti + Ryzen 7 7800X3D sudden hard shutdowns in specific games – already tried undervolt, BIOS tweaks, etc.

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing frustrating random hard shutdowns (complete power loss, no BSOD) on my build, specifically during certain scenarios in games. The PC just turns off instantly as if someone pulled the power cord.

# My specs:

* **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
* **Motherboard**: MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI (latest BIOS)
* **GPU**: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GAMING OC 16GB
* **RAM**: ADATA XPG Lancer Blade 32GB (5600MHz)
* **PSU**: MSI MPG A850G PCIE5 (850W, ATX 3.0, native 12V-2x6 cable)

# The issue:

* **Minecraft with Distant Horizons mod**: Shuts down almost every time within the **first 5 minutes** after loading a world (heavy LOD generation).
* **Black Myth: Wukong**: Happens randomly during cutscenes or loading screens. Sometimes I can play for a whole day without issues. First time it triggers on the second playthrough.
* **Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2**: Happened once.

Event Viewer always shows **Kernel-Power Event ID 41** (BugcheckCode 0).

# What I've already tried (no luck):

* Updated BIOS on the motherboard
* Reseated the 12V-2x6 power cable multiple times (checked for damage/pins)
* Set PCIe to Gen4 in BIOS
* Changed Power Supply Idle Control to "Typical Current"
* **MSI Afterburner undervolting + power limiting**:
* Power Limit down to 80-85%
* Aggressive Curve Editor undervolt (950mV locked at \~2970 MHz, also tried 925mV)
* Even with GPU power staying under 100-130W, shutdowns still occur
* HWInfo logs during crashes show +12V dipping to \~11.95V, but nothing critically low on average. GPU power and voltage look stable.
* OCCT Power test (1 hour) passes without errors

The shutdowns happen even when the GPU is heavily downclocked and drawing very low average power, which points to **very short transient current spikes** that HWInfo/OCCT can't fully catch, but the PSU protection triggers.

Has anyone with a **RTX 5070 Ti** (especially Gigabyte models) + **7800X3D** run into similar sudden power-offs in simulation-heavy or loading-heavy scenarios?

I'm starting to suspect either:

* The MSI A850G isn't handling the transients well (even though it's a decent ATX 3.0 unit)
* Or there's an issue with this specific 5070 Ti sample (VRM/transient behavior)

Before I RMA the GPU or replace the PSU with a 1000W high-quality unit (Corsair RMx/HX, Seasonic Prime, etc.), I'd love to hear if anyone has found a fix.

Any similar experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
