September Italy Itinerary Advice
Hey,
I’m considering a trip to Italy for my girlfriend’s birthday in September; her main interest is Florence, and so I’ve prepared a preliminary 5/6 day itinerary and was hoping I could get some thoughts!
We would arrive around 9 am on September 15th at Venice airport from Edinburgh, and spend the day in Venice (would hopefully be able to enjoy ourselves without our bags with a luggage drop off point) before taking an evening train to Florence.
We would be in Florence on the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th (her actual birthday), and hopefully could take a day trip to at least Pisa in those days. We would be taking a morning train on the 20th to Milan for our flight, which would be around 15.00, and hopefully check out the Last Supper, Galleria, and Duomo in those few morning hours.
My worries with the itinerary is primarily with the first day, if we would be able to enjoy Venice in just one day right after travel. Going around Milan on the final day is not a priority and I wouldn’t be too sad to miss out, but am still curious if the places I outlined would be doable in 2-3 hours?
Finally, are the 4 days we’d have in Florence enough to hit the major spots without exhaustion? Like I said, I’m hoping for a half-day in Pisa during that time, but am also curious if any other half-day trips would be possible/recommended, either on the same day after Pisa or maybe on another day.
