Describe your biggest "GTFO moment" while traveling
Backstory: I just had to cut short what would've been a three-month-at-minimum trip (changed my departure and flying back home on the 4th of March, got here the last day of January). I feel like I "had" to for valid enough reasons (familial obligations and financial worries, amongst others). However, they had nothing to do with the experience itself, which I am enjoying immensely.
Though I regret nothing and, thankfully, had purchased a good enough insurance (so I won't lose/haven't actually lost any money) I still feel incredibly stupid for "giving up". This was more than just a trip (is it ever?) It was about exploring parts of the world that I might otherwise never get to see, discovering ways of life that I might otherwise never witness. And so far it has exceeded my expectations. I've wanted to come to SE Asia and Oceania since I was a little girl, began researching it and saving up for it since I started traveling (without my parents/SO/friends). It's useless to complain about it now - it is what it is.
But, perhaps to make me feel better knowing that other humans have been in the same position (probably, I can't be the only one) would anyone else care to share with the class whether they, too, faced a similar choice? IE stay on the 'trip of a lifetime' or behave like a responsible adult with commitments? What happened? Thank you if you do decide to weigh in, I'll be reading your experience(s) and, who knows, it might help me gain a different perspective. #travel source
