The United Kingdom says it will share classified information to help Ukraine assemble a domestic version of the long-range Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missile. 🇬🇧🇺🇦
Storm Shadow is an air-launched weapon made by MBDA for pre-planned strikes on fixed, high-value targets. Its published range is more than 250 kilometres, and its French counterpart is called SCALP.
📰 Britain first supplied Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine in 2023. The proposed production support follows reported French backing for SCALP assembly lines in Ukraine and could reduce dependence on deliveries of complete missiles.
The plans’ timetable, production rate and degree of local component manufacturing have not been disclosed. Associated Press reported that Ukrainian-produced missiles are not expected before 2027 at the earliest. ⏳
