Parenting question… kids staying home alone overnight.
I have a quick question regarding thoughts on leaving kids home alone overnight. My ex wife and I have been divorced for 10 years. We have two daughters together (17 and 11). For the most part we have a decent relationship and get along well. We currently live in separate state. I’m in Minnesota and she’s in Iowa with our girls. My oldest recently informed me that their mother was taking a trip to Hawaii with her husband and would be gone for 15 days. Leaving them home alone during this time. I was never consulted on this and when I brought it up she seemed annoyed I would even question her. Due to school/work schedules I’m not able to have them while she’s out of town. I offered to have them come stay with me during that time but was told there was no way they could miss that much school. I don’t like the idea of them being home alone for that many days in a row. Just wanted to get some thoughts… is this okay? Or am I justified in thinking this isn’t safe?
