nothing wrong with giving advice you would not take…

nothing wrong with giving advice you would not take yourself

There is nothing wrong with giving advice that you wouldn't personally follow yourself. Most of the advice I give is based on what will benefit the other person, along with the kind of person they are. I consider what they're most likely to do rather than what I would do in their situation.

I spent so much time giving people what I believed was the objectively "correct" advice, only to watch them ignore it and instead take advice from people they related to more, even when that advice ended up backfiring. Over time, I realized that advice has to be relatable and fit within a person's nature, personality, and capabilities if it's going to have any real chance of being followed.

The best advice isn't always the most ideal advice. Sometimes the most effective advice is the advice a person can realistically apply. If advice doesn't align with who someone is or where they are in life, even great advice can end up being useless.
