I got an interview in the same company I work at, but with a different department
I currently work a temporary position at a decently large company. I’ve been applying to permanent job while working my temporary position of which some of my applications were to the same company, but different department. The company is big enough to where my department and the departments I apply to don’t really talk to each other.
The thing is that I haven’t told my boss I’m still applying to other jobs including ones in different departments. My boss also explicitly said that I shouldn’t be looking for other jobs especially because the original job positing for my temp role was for a permanent position (they bait and switched) and they might want to extend my temporary contract. The temporary position lasts for 6 months “with possibility of extension.” I took my current temp position because I needed some sort of paycheck and I had no other offers at the time.
I’ve so far left the temporary position off of my resume since I’ve only been there for about 1.5 months. That being said, I’m in the company’s HR system, so if I somehow make it far in the interview process or somehow get the offer, the new department will eventually find out about my current temporary position.
How soon into the interview process should I come clean about my temporary position? I would much rather have a permanent position, as my current job does not come with benefits and I honestly desperately need benefits (especially health insurance).
