Plot Twist - Kendrick knew about Drake's Red Button... but still engaged in battle
If you aren't aware, people are alluding that the "Red Button" that Drake hinted at before, and the reason he appears to be uber confident at the moment, is the fact that Drake owns Kendrick's and other artists's masters, thanks to his Universal deal. I think Kendrick already knew that, and still dissed him.
Kenny said "Money, power, respect... the last one is better"... He's implying that Drake has more money, more power (if Drake owns the other artists' masters), but if any artist is more unanimously respected, not just in the rap world but in general, it is Kendrick Lamar. That is undeniable. And Kenny is saying that respect is of the utmost importance to him.
I've always sensed an intense competitive drive in Kendrick, since the beginning of his career. He wants to be the best, he wants to fight his competitors for the top spot, in the true spirit of hip hop. Kendrick loves rap and all that it stands for. He's definitely not the one to cower away when things get serious. This is one tough mf.
If anything, he should be more motivated to battle Drake because of the rage he probably feels because of the whole situation. There is no way on this planet that he would back out after Drake called out his wife, and all the other insults. For heaven's sake, Kendrick's album cover is him standing in front of his wife with a gun strapped to him for her protection.
Some are saying that Kendrick didn't know about the red button before he dissed Drake on Like That. I just don't see how that could happen. As someone who's not just IN the industry, but at the core of it, there's no way Kendrick didn't know about that... if the red button actually exists, that is... and I believe it does.
