Meat Rabbits
Hey all,
We have a small farm in northern Tennessee.
I haven’t taken the dive on meat rabbits yet, still doing research but I think next year I would like to add rabbits to our ‘stead. I want them to fill a lean meat role for us & supplemental feeding for our dogs, as well as using their pelts. So, meat to bone ratio, fast growth rate, good mothering instincts, as well as a nice thick pelt is also.
I’ve seen different purebreds in our area but also some interesting hybrids as well.
Some questions:
What do you think is best for our goals?
Do you colony raise, hutch, or tractor raise?
Are you able to use forage from your property to sustain the rabbits even somewhat?
