So my girlfriend and I were at a small coffee shop that had a long line and few open tables. I came out of the bathroom and met my gf back in line. She asked me to go sit at table she saw open to save it for us. I told her I would but still needed to decide what I wanted. I quickly decided but someone else sat at the table. She got upset and said nevermind to getting food because we didn’t have table and that she was just going to get a drink. I was like okay… and then pointed out there was another table open and her response was telling me “I don’t know why you couldn’t get the other table. You’re an adult, you don’t need my permission to save a table”
As she was explaining that I’m an adult someone turned around and looked at us because my girlfriend said it twice i just don’t remember her exact phrasing and she sounded pretty irritated.
After we left I told her in the car that I don’t appreciate the way she spoke to me and that it’s embarrassing when she does that. I also told her I don’t think it’s appropriate to argue in public. She told me we weren’t arguing but having a disagreement and that she should be able to say how she feels in public. Which sure, but should still speak respectfully - what are y’all’s thoughts?
She won’t talk to me now and I don’t think me apologizing or telling her nvm you spoke to me fine is a good way to fix this but I think that’s what she wants. #adult source
