Well, since just a minute as this has been closed, will still post as well. 🥰🥰🥰. Just to share my bottled memory. 🥀🥀🌷🌷
🧬 Where were you and what was happening around you? (include a specific detail- like a sound, smell or color etc. that made it special)
I was about to take you to the hill full of daffodills, bees, butterflies and chirping birds while overlooking town and river.. Sitting on the bench looking at the sunset. Yet, I was tagged by
and was touched by her bottled moment. So, I will be taking you to my cherished bottled moment as well.
Upon returning to my home country after years of working in the Middle East, I rendered my service in my own countryland, the Philippines. I was assigned to the COVID ward as a nurse.
As I donned my PPE, the national anthem 'Lupang Hinirang' began to play, as it was a government mandate to play it every Mondays, prompting me to stand and place my hand on my chest.
The scene unfolding before me was deeply distressing, as I watched healthcare personnel work tirelessly to revive patients in glass chambers, using walkie-talkies and TV monitors to communicate. The loss of life was agonizing, especially when our national anthem played, and I desperately hoped that these individuals would survive and not be counted among our fallen heroes.
🧬 What did this moment feel like ? (Describe it in a way that makes us feel it too)
It felt like standing in the middle of two worlds, one filled with duty and honor, and the other heavy with pain and loss.
The glass walls made it surreal, like looking into a living diorama of struggle and survival. The muffled chaos inside, beeping machines, urgent voices over walkie-talkies, clashed with the solemn swell of Lupang Hinirang. Every word of the anthem seemed to pierce deeper, each note carrying the weight of the dying, the fighting, and the hoping.
The scene before me is breaking as if seeing it in slow motion. The air feels heavy, as if time itself paused to let me witness the fragility of life and the resilience of those who fight for it.
It’s a moment where patriotism and grief hold hands, where you’re reminded that heroism isn’t only on battlefields, but also in sterile rooms behind glass, where survival is its own kind of victory.
🧬 Why do you wish you could bottle it up?
This memory stays bottled up because this is a powerful reminder of my country's strength and resilience, my grief and sadness over these lives lost, my helplessness of being unable to save everyone, and my deep emotional impact of witnessing such scenes during a national chaos.
🧬 If you could describe this moment's feeling in One word, what would it be?
Agony
