My boyfriend and I are looking to go on a trip sometime between early to mid September. Both of us from Michigan. We would fly out of Chicago. We have limited US travel experience (Vegas, Orlando, Yellowstone/Tetons, Zion) and outside of the US we‘ve only traveled to Cancun and Toronto. We are both in our late 20s. We are Hispanic so we both speak English and Spanish.
**These are our considerations:**
**Length** Probably about a week. Max 10 days. If closer to 10 days, it would probably have to be over Labor Day weekend.
**Budget** Around $2,000 each (Preferably less)
**Climate** We are good with cold climates, however around the time we will be getting back, it will start getting cold, so tropical would be ideal.
**Interests**: we’d love to try just about anything! A mix of exploring and some relax/down time. We do enjoy getting a few drinks and trying new things.
**Food**: As long as the food is good, it doesn't matter if it's 4 star or came from a street cart. Finding that dive that does one dish really well is amazing.
We would probably want a few nice meals at good restaurants, though.
**Outdoors:** We like nature hikes and beaches.
**Culture:** We enjoy music a lot! Any genre, and an extra plus if it’s live music. But also open to checking out historic and “touristy“ spots.
Also, has anyone traveled to Puerto Rico during that time? That‘s a spot I had in mind but I know it’s hurricane season :(
