Hosting/hospitality culture is dying. GOOD!
Like many of you, I grew up watching the women in my life do ALL the kin keeping work. They planned and prepped meals, wrote and delivered invitations and thank you cards, made everyone feel good, and cleaned it all up like nothing happened. Meanwhile, men got to eat, drink, and be merry while taking all the credit. Or criticizing the host. Or both. The women couldn't relax even after the party was over. OF COURSE WE'RE OPTING OUT!!! Across many cultures all over the world, hosting is considered "women's work" and until more men share the load, we're done!
