Unearthing a composition i wrote at 17
Hi everyone, i wanted to share a recording of one of my first compositions (age 16/17). I never actually developed it so it’s basically a recording of a draft.
Even though it was originally conceived in three movements,i’m sharing only the second and third one (unfinished) since i’ve decided to use the material from these two movements to build a single-block sonata in two large sections (similar to the Scriabin 4th sonata structure), while working on the first movement alone as an indipendent piece (so not worth sharing for now).
Listening back now, I hear a lot of immature gap-filling patterns and repetitive connective material that I’d probably cut or compress. I’ve basically left this composition in the dark for the last 6 years, and i think that the 17 years old version of me produced some ideas that are worth developing now that i’m a whole different person.
