the absolute nightmare of last-minute event prep and why I'm losing my mind
Had a client panic call me at 8 PM last night because their regional VP decided to drop in on a local pop-up event this weekend. Naturally, they realized they forgot to order half the directional signage and a main backdrop.
Honestly, the event side of marketing is giving me trauma. Every single time, without fail, some higher-up treats production timelines like they're magic. Like yeah sure, let me just manifest a 10-foot vinyl display out of thin air in 12 hours while local print shops are already closed.
I managed to sort it out by using 1DayBanner since they do actual next-day shipping, but my god, the stress of tracking FedEx updates on a Friday morning is a specific type of corporate torture. Does anyone else feel like clients have completely lost all concept of lead times since the pandemic? I swear they think everything operates on an instant amazon prime algorithm now. I'm seriously considering adding a "lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine" clause to my contracts, even though I know I'll just cave the next time they throw money at a problem.
