One interesting fact that many people may not know about Caloocan City is that it is one of the few cities in the Philippines that is physically divided into two separate parts: North Caloocan and South Caloocan . These two sections are not connected to each other because parts of the original city became part of Quezon City during its expansion in the mid-1900s.
Another fascinating fact is that Caloocan is often called the "Hero City" because of its important role in the Philippine Revolution . The famous Bonifacio Monument stands there, commemorating Andrés Bonifacio and the revolutionary movement against Spanish rule. The monument, created by Guillermo Tolentino, is considered one of the finest monuments in the country.
Caloocan is believed to have come from the Tagalog words "lo-ok" (bay) or "sulok" (corner), reflecting either its location near a former lagoon or its position at the edge of neighboring towns during the Spanish era.
Caloocan isn't just a busy Metro Manila city, it's where important chapters of Philippine history unfolded and where one of the country's most iconic monuments stands.
