Steel Security Door Handle
The lock combo on my steel door has unfortunately stopped working. Instead of having a locksmith or professional come out, I decided that this small project was small and simple enough to tackle. While dismantling and installing was no problem, I just cannot get the door to close! In either arrangement, whether it be with the dead bolt on the top or the bottom, the handle of the security door knob will not clear the entry door's knob or deadbolt. I do not know where the original owner found this set from to work with each other, but I have gone through 2 different combos from Home Depot and neither fit.
Are there slim or low profile combos available that I am not finding in stores or online?
I could start trying new entry door knob sets as well I just don't see this making much of a difference as what is making contact is not the actual handle of the entry door but the mounting point. Most of these mounting point thickness seem to be pretty standard...
What about adding spacers between the security door frame so there's a bit more clearance? Is this a standard practice?
Any tricks of the trade anyone can share would be greatly appreciated!
