Colditz Castle: The Most Escape-Proof Nazi Prison Of WW2 Colditz Castle in Germany was used as a prisoner of war camp during WW2. It was used to lock up some of the Nazi's most valuable prisoners as well as prisoners that managed to escape other prison camps. It was believed to be "unescapable" by the Germans; this set the scene for some of the boldest prisoner escapes of The Second World War.
