Chickens and outdoor cats

I am in central NC. We tend to have pretty mild winters we may have a few weeks where the lows get into the teens at night. I have an old storage building that I am thinking of turning it into a chicken coop / outdoor cat house. The roof and the floor I will have to replace. I am thinking of using metal for the roofing. I have my chickens now in my two horse trailer and I am at the point I need to sell it. Plus I don’t think it keeps them warm enough in the winter. I wanted to put the clear plastic roofing in some of the roof for lighting. It’s is a wooding storage building that you would buy from a storage building place and they deliver it on a flat bed truck. I am just unsure about the insulation if it’s needed in my area or not for chickens and cats and should I figure out a way to insulate the roof. Humidity in the summer is tough here as well. Thanks for any advice and ideas on how I can make this work. I do plan on diving the area inside so I can have a place for feed and bedding storage and a separate area for the chickens to roost at night and of course the cats would only have access where the feed and bedding are I wanted to give them a dry warm place as well to sleep and eat.
