The lost art of LPS Growing up as a little girl obsessed…

The lost art of LPS

Growing up as a little girl obsessed with making and owning accessories for my littlest pet shops to play with, my favorite pastime when I was younger was to use the little beds and other materials as tables for my pets and play ambience of restaurants from YouTube over it while I played. I remember watching YouTube videos of people role playing with their LPS and unboxing videos like YouTubers like yum soda and cookie swirl c. My family grew up poor so I often did not get LPS stuff as I probably would have wanted, however that did not discourage me from owning a box full of LPS and playing with them in the sink like a pool almost every day. And as I grew older and eventually gave up my LPS and then eventually eventually became obsessed with them again I learned that even with the new reboot of the old generation something was missing. Where in the world did all the LPS accessories go? LPS is renowned in my opinion for having some of the most unique and simple toys at their disposal for the LPS to have whether it be furniture, clothing, or food, they had it all and they had it all in different types of forms.

Another thing that I've made a post about is the missing art of playsets, Basic Fun is what i've learned being the new people behind this. They own the license to a nostalgic toy that millions of people enjoy and they are missing the point of what people really wanted. While the toys look like the toys from our childhood they're lacking a certain flair that the older ones had and whether that be because the lost art form that is the design of the original toys is just not there or because it's simply just way too saturated. My excitement for the reboot of the old generation LPS was immense when I first saw it, finally after years of begging and the atrocious past gen we finally had what we had all been wanting. But then the glaring flaws and lack of care started to show in every very blind box and every set that was released by the Basic Fun. Color jobs, missing print, neon colors, broken, missing the iconic emotions in their eyes, basic designs, messed up designs that barely were seen in the older LPS.

And then to the biggest flaws and missed opportunities in my opinion, the lack of playsets! The alarming amount of no accessories being included in anything LPS related nowadays. Gone were the days where you could buy a playset with LPS and accessories to play with and now we're stuck with the blind box slop that is today where you're only able to find certain LPS but a few little toys included in their boxes. That also includes the black of authentic unique LPS creations like in the past where we had varieties of different LPS and while that is still the case it seems far lacking in my opinion. Well the market for LPS is not huge enough to really incentivize these companies to try like they would have back in the day it would be nice to see them actually do what they promise to do by bringing back the old LPS.

There is a lost deeply saddening feel when I look at the LPS that I own that are newer while ryemind me of my childhood, there is something that is just missing that I don't know what it is. I stare at the thrift store LPS I found before I bought the new ones and then I look at the ones that are the ones that call themselves the nostalgic LPS and then I realized it was not me. I realized staring at those lifeless neon eyes of my LPS that my childhood had died the moment these corporations decided to be cheaper and not authentic. I will always appreciate the LPS that exist now because I am happy they exist even with their flaws. However that does not take away the pain I feel looking at what once was my childhood and feels like it has been desecrated by greedy corporation who no longer understands what made the original LPs so beloved. I mourn the loss like many others of the vibrant colorful world the toy store used to bring in our youth and perhaps it is just what is meant to be with the toy collecting scene now with no life in a disregard for what made the product \*unique\*.
