Avoiding car break-ins while moving/road tripping?

I'm moving cross-country (US) soon and have a couple of weeks between when my lease ends at one place and starts at the other, so I'm making a road trip of it. I'm moving with just the stuff in my car.

Because my stuff will be in my car for a relatively extended period, I'm a little nervous about people breaking in. I know basic precautions (e.g., take electronics and important papers into the room, avoid cities/parts of cities where theft is particularly common, park in secured areas when possible and well-lit places with cameras when not, be sure to lock the doors, don't rummage around in the hotel parking lot), but I'm looking for any extra tips.

Neither my stuff nor my car is or looks particularly interesting, and I would think it would look like a pain to opportunists to try to go through because it's just like, vacuum sealed bags of clothes and stacks of books or whatever, but what do I know. **So my question is mostly how to make it as unappealing as possible to prospective thieves, such as by...**

* Leaving it as-is, so it's obvious I'm moving but also doesn't look very high-reward
* Putting a sheet or blanket over it so it's clear there's stuff in there but it's hard to say what
* Buying sun shades for my windows so it's impossible to see in at all (which might make it a gamble or a temptation, not sure)

Which of these seems like the best way to go?

It's packed too tight to be able to reasonably bring it all in with me at night, plus I feel like that would just put a target on me lol. I also can't/don't want to just not do it. It's just stuff, and my anxiety is probably overblown for the actual risk, but still. **Any thoughts on how to make my car look unsexy to burglars? Or any words of encouragement if you've done something similar?**
