I understand greenlighting a new book for a 4-6 issue mini and gauging audience reception as a pilot. But why is it the successful series always seem to return with new number #1s instead of continuing the numbering. So many "standalone" comics have multiple mini series - often just the same title not even a tagline. Even when everything is written by the same writer.
How often do you jump onto a new mini in an indie comic franchise without reading previous books? Is there a real increase in sales with breaking titles like that compared to books that return with the next index? #entertainment
