If you can vividly imagine the end result, action is…

If you can vividly imagine the end result, action is immediate

I wrote an article on How To Actually "Just Do It" https://wisedayplanner.com/blog/action-loop-impulsive-vs-effective-type/but the summary is basically this:

People who complain about procrastination / want for motivation operate from an impulsive thinking type.

The above picture is my model of the action loop.

For someone in an impulsive mode, they will need external (e.g. a message from some other person that depends on the result) or internal (some feeling) stimuli that creates the state for the activity.

Once in state, they being thinking about what to do & how to do it, which becomes action. Action turns into a result, which becomes stimuli again (they review their work, and the quality of the work effects their state.)

While someone in the effective type of mode engages the action loop in the opposite direction. They think about the result (the end state) and that immediatly causes them to start acting. Even if it's something unfamiliar, they have a basic idea of what they can do and they start doing it.

The key skill to get better at taking action becomes vividly imagining the end result, and action will follow.
