However, John Milius was definitely very involved in the script, and managed when filming the film that many of the political connotations that Stone wrote were lost or overlapped behind director Milius' own individualistic philosophy. Anyway, even so the film has some hidden "messages", but luckily these messages will not prevent a mature viewer from enjoying a cinematic masterpiece that is very rare to find nowadays.
