[END] Conan the Barbarian (1982) #RetroReview

In conclusion, in my opinion, despite the little respect that many cinema critics and cinephiles in general have for this film, classifying it as empty, superfluous and just a commercial product, Conan the Barbarian has transcended and after 40 years it is still an excellent film. , one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's best films, a cult film of the fantasy genre.

However, John Milius was definitely very involved in the script, and managed when filming the film that many of the political connotations that Stone wrote were lost or overlapped behind director Milius' own individualistic philosophy. Anyway, even so the film has some hidden "messages", but luckily these messages will not prevent a mature viewer from enjoying a cinematic masterpiece that is very rare to find nowadays.

The film's depiction of the Thulsa Doom cult could be interpreted as influenced by Nietzsche's unflattering views against prevailing Christianity, making Conan the Barbarian more anti-Christian than more harmless but much more publicized films (such as The Last Temptation of Christ, for example).
