Follow-up: I remade my Catwalk chair in solid cherry
A while back, I shared an earlier walnut version of this chair and mentioned that I wanted to make another one in cherry. I finally did, and made a short process edit for this post.
I started with a mockup to test the sitting posture and comfort, then modeled the frame in 3D. The final frame was CNC-shaped from solid cherry, assembled, refined, and finished by hand. For the seat, I made an ivory leather cushion to contrast with the cherry frame.
I wanted the structure to feel light and continuous rather than just functional. Compared with the walnut version, the cherry and ivory leather changed the character of the chair quite a bit.
