I had no idea air-drying laundry indoors could raise my apartment's humidity this much
I've been air-drying my clothes on a rack in my living room for months because my apartment doesn't have a dryer. I never thought it was causing any issues until I noticed a small patch of mold starting to appear near one of the windows.
Out of curiosity, I checked the humidity on laundry day and was surprised to see it jump to around 75%. On days without laundry, it usually stays in the mid-40s. It finally clicked that all the moisture from the wet clothes had nowhere to go in a small apartment with limited ventilation.
I started running a dehumidifier only while drying laundry, and the difference has been noticeable. The clothes dry faster, the apartment doesn't feel as damp, and the mold hasn't come back since I cleaned it up.
Has anyone else experienced this? If you air-dry your clothes indoors, do you just open the windows, use a fan, or run a dehumidifier? I'm curious what works best for others. #home source
