Since spring has just arrived in Hungary, there are no fruits, vegetables, or herbs here yet. The picture shows my balcony strawberry plant which I bought about 10-12 years ago in a garden center. 🍓 Since then, I have continued to propagate it from the hanging shoots, so I now have 4–5 plants. As you can see in the photo, the plants were in the garden all winter. We cover the plant's roots with straw for the winter so that they don't freeze. It tolerates frost very well and doesn't require special care. In summer, they like a sunny spot. These balcony strawberry plants produce sweet, honey-flavored strawberries from early spring to late autumn. In hot weather, I always water them with lukewarm water, through the plastic tube shown in the photo, so that the water goes down to the roots and the leaves don't burn. ( 4 photos )
That’s wonderful, Judit! 🍓 It’s amazing that your strawberry plant has been thriving for 10–12 years and that you’ve propagated several more from it. Your care and clever watering method clearly keep them happy! 🌱
Thank you, dear Sylvie. I propagate it so that if a plant dies, there will be a new, healthy one that will produce delicious strawberries. 🫠❤️ Have a beautiful evening! 🌹
