Was refused boarding to a AirAsia flight to Vietnam, were they right or wrong to do so?
Hello a few hours have passed since I have figured alternate plans so now I have a second I am wondering if what happened by AirAsia was correct?
I am an Australian national in Bangkok and I had planned to make my way to Japan tonight first with a flight from DMK to Hanoi with AirAsia and then 2.5 hours after landing a flight from Hanoi to Nagoya with Vietjet.
Whilst in line to board the AirAsia worker asked to see my Vietnam Visa, I had thoroughly searched online to make sure I didn’t need a transit Visa if I had proof of ongoing travel and could transit through but the lady was adamant that I couldn’t do that with AirAsia. Long story short she was adamant I wasn’t allowed on the plane as I didn’t have a Visa I didn’t think I needed but I ultimately gave up arguing with her and purchased a last minute $450 direct flight to Osaka from BKK so I had to rush to leave the airport and take a Grab half way across the city.
My question is was she right to deny my entry onto the plane did I really need to purchase a visa to transit through Hanoi airport?
Would appreciate any knowledge anyone has on the rules and what I should do from here, Thankyou.
