For those who’ve hiked Mt. Rinjani, what do you wish you knew beforehand?
Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip to Lombok next October and I’m seriously considering doing the Mt. Rinjani trek. I’ll have around 5-6 days in Lombok, so I’m trying to plan everything properly and make the most of my time there \^\^.
I’ve been doing quite a bit of research, but I’d much rather hear from people who have actually done the trek.
A few questions:
1. **Which company or guide did you use, and would you recommend them?** I’ve seen quite a few options on GetYourGuide, but the information is often quite vague. I’d love to hear about companies you’ve personally used and had a good experience with. 2. **Which route would you recommend?** Sembalun, Senaru, or another option? And how many days would you recommend for the trek? 3. **Where would you recommend staying before the trek?** Would you stay in Sembalun, Senaru, or somewhere else? And is it better to arrive the day before the trek? 4. **What gear would you consider essential?** Anything you brought that you were really glad to have, or anything you took that turned out to be unnecessary? 5. **What do you wish you had known before doing Rinjani?** This is probably the biggest one. Any mistakes you made, things you would do differently, or advice you think a first-timer should know?
Also, if you have any other recommendations I’d be happy to hear them too.
