Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon killed at least 11 people on Saturday, including three children, in the deadliest attacks since the June 20 Israel–Hezbollah truce took effect. 💥
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said seven people were killed in a strike on a home near Ansar and four in Deir al-Zahrani. Seventeen people were wounded in the latter strike, according to AP.
The truce was meant to halt fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, while a separate June 26 Israel–Lebanon framework proposed phased Israeli withdrawal in exchange for the disarmament of Hezbollah and other non-state armed groups. Hezbollah was not party to that framework.
Lebanese leaders said the strikes undermine the negotiation track and efforts to stabilise the south. Israel said it was responding to action against its soldiers, underscoring how fragile the ceasefire remains. 🕊️
