Thailand, Vietnam, Both or Neither?
Hey, I have the whole of August free and was thinking of heading to South East Asia as I haven't been before. I've heard so many good things about Thailand and Vietnam but am not sure if they align with my interests and if it's worth going during rainy season. Should I go to both, one, or somewhere else entirely based on the below?
**About me:**
I'm a woman in my early 20s and have lots of experience solo travelling in Europe and Latin America. Because of this, I'm happy to go slightly off the beaten path to experience more local/authentic places but only if it would be safe to do so as a young female solo traveller
**My interests:**
**-** I'm interested in places with a rich culture, where I can explore a different way of life to my own
\- Nature, especially if there's the option for guided day hikes
**What I'm not interested in:**
**-** travelling for food. I'm vegetarian so am used to not having many options when I travel so food is never a priority for me
\- sitting on a beach all day doing nothing
\- places where the entire town is essentially catered for tourists and there's no local culture
\- I was previously considering doing the Ha Giang loop, but wouldn't feel safe/comfortable doing it now after the recent death of the British gap year student
\- clubbing. I prefer sitting in a bar and having a conversation
