The other day I got rejected for a role due to the client wanting to hire internally (despite getting positive feedback). The recruiter asked if I was interested in another role instead. There’s a small amount of overlap with the new role and the initial role I applied for, but overall I don’t meet a lot of the qualifications. It would be a pivot from what I’ve been doing. He said my information had already been forwarded to the hiring manager and they were interested in speaking with me.
My question is whether this is worth pursuing? I was told this is a more junior, foot-in-the-door role. One of my concerns is getting rejected from the role and having a negative mark on me as a candidate if I want to interview with this company again in the future. I’m willing to learn for the new role, but worried it won’t be enough. #business source
