We made red oak shelves for our pantry, and worked our way up while sanding up to 220. After testing the stain colors (on sanded and rougher wood), we realized that you’re really not supposed to go above 150 or 180 on oak because of concern for closing the grain. This is noticeable as I would like a darker color, and I can tell the sanded wood isn’t absorbing it as well as the rougher scrap wood. Is it possible to go “back” and just re-sand with 150 or 180? Will that cause any issues? #diy
