Should I stop sending my creative projects to friends?

For context: I'm autistic, and that's why I'm struggling to understand the proper protocol in this situation.

I'm a full-time author and a have a handful of friends that I send recently published work to whenever the pieces get released. I do this because they said that they were interested in my work, and said that they'd like to read it. It's always short stories, nothing longer than twenty pages.

The issue is that whenever I send something to them, I get crickets in return. Maybe I get a text back after a few weeks.... But then they have lots of great stuff to say about my work when I meet up with them again for dinner or whatever. I don't usually text with them outside of making plans to meet up, so it's not abnormal to go weeks without talking, but I feel like it's different when I've sent them something.

I'm struggling to understand if they're reading it just to be nice and they wish I'd stop sending the stories, or if it's normal for people to just not say anything for weeks at a time after you send them something? If they don't like the work and they're uncomfortable with asking me to stop sending stuff, that's fine I get that. I just don't want to be bothering them, but I also don't want to stop sending it and hurt their feelings.
