Is asking for small social help taboo these days ?
I was going to a dep during the day today, outside there were sitting two homeless guys engaging with every woman who passed by. I’m a young woman also and as I walked in they started talking to me and it felt a bit scary, I scurried inside and bought a few things. I was dreading going out and the cashier came up the register for the sale, he was a guy in his maybe min 20s pretty buff and I felt super awkward but managed to ask if he’s ok to walk 15m with me just to the door. I told him it feels unsafe outside as there are two men just sitting right by the entrance. This area of the street is frequented by homeless people so he knew what I was referring to. There was another employee walking around taking stock of the produce also.
He just looked at me and said “it’s ok out there”
I just asked it’s ok?
He said yeah
I felt really embarrassed and just went out, as two girls were walking and those guys were harassing them I slipped out and quickly walked away.
Is it too much to ask for these things nowadays ?
I feel if someone asked me no matter who they were I would t even think twice over such a small thing, just a second pair of eyes - not even exiting the store or anything. #relationships
