Don't know what it is, but lately at my job I've started enjoying just chatting with people. Not about a specific topic, and if anything it's better if it's not work related (but obviously should still stay work appropriate). Usually I've just gone in, put my head down, did my job, then left once my day was done, not caring about anyone there.
I found specific people I really liked talking to and we just started talking regularly but that has since branched off in to me having others as well who chat too (not as deep conversations as the ones I'm closer to). Almost like talking to them made me be like "They're not so bad, and if the popular person in this place likes talking to me, maybe others do too."
It's now at the point where on an average day I could have nearly a dozen different people (none of which even work directly with me/in my same department) saying hi to me as I get to work or they get to work or we just see each other for the first time in the day.
It does feel nice to have that. Obviously there will still be times and people I don't care to do that with, but it's a small thing which has suddenly made a difference for me.
Nobody has asked me to hang out with them as yet (so we're still in the "friendly coworker" phase), but just having people this warm and pleasant to me so far has felt nice. #relationships source
