Does a man need to seek forgiveness from someone he’s wronged, or is it sufficient to ask Allah?
Does a man need to seek forgiveness from people he’s wronged if he’s sought forgiveness from Allah?
A man repeatedly promised me marriage, and he and his mother took multiple forms of benefits from me as a result. His mother was initially okay with it, then starting becoming insecure when it became more real. She was a single mother and he was her sole provider and emotional support. She didn’t really have an identity outside of him and they were very close. I agreed to live with her but she hated me for existing.
She then bullied me repeatedly for being in my late twenties, saying I won’t be fertile, then said I’m not attractive enough, and he never stood up for me but cried saying he’s trying to. Then the mother eventually created a drama and separated us and blamed me, and didn’t allow me to defend myself, silenced me and made him swore by Allah that he’ll never speak to me again.
He actually also made many promises to marry me. Are those void because he swore he won’t speak to me again? He didn’t even apologise and I know he knows deep down that I didn’t do anything wrong, but he doesn’t want to upset his mother.
He always felt guilt that she raised him alone so he did everything for her. And she treated him as a surrogate spouse, so she saw me as a threat. He also compared me to his mother and I wasn’t good enough. Until eventually he realised that a wife and mother are two separate roles and that his mother is wrong to prevent us from doing a nikkah. He started standing up for himself. Which is why she had to break us apart.
His mother destroyed me emotionally and so did his disappearance. Especially as I believed we were about to marry. I was made out to be a villain for expecting him to follow through with his promises and was extremely confused. I begged for answers and this was used against me. his sister said he swore by Allah that he didn’t say he’ll marry me at the time we were meant to, even though he repeatedly said it. his mum saw it happen too but she also swore by God that he didn’t say it, which is another lie.
I never got answers. my only conclusion after months is that he’s enmeshed with his mother and that I ignored red flags.
I want to forgive him but he needs to be sorry. He never apologised but made me out to be a villain to make his mother happy. #religion source
