Having difficulties with large Discord communities.

I've had very poor luck with large Discord communities, ones with 100+ members to be precise. In one, I had a spat with one of the moderators over some online content creator that led to my leaving the server. In another, I voiced an opinion about harmful tropes in anime that was interpreted by the mods as anti-Japanese racism and I was promptly banned. In yet another, I got into a spat with a mod over one of the server rules, was accused by one of the mods' friends of purposely orchestrating the spat for attention, then I stormed out of the server after telling said friend to go fuck themselves.

I'm starting to think this isn't just a \*them\* problem. I worry that my personality is grating on certain people. I don't try to insult people or otherwise put them down unnecessarily, but I am strongly opinionated and my wit is exceptionally dry, so I can come across as an asshole. When I say something that I intended as a lighthearted joke, then I'm met with hostility in return, I tend to get flustered and defensive, and that can devolve into pointless arguments that solve nothing and hurt everyone.

I don't want to be an asshole. I don't want to hurt anyone. 90% of the time I don't, but things can get quite nasty that other 10%. How can I avoid situations like this in the future?
