Has anyone here ever experienced this?

will no longer be able to log in to X unless he registers his biometric data there.
He only uses X on his computer. After logging in, he first receives a code via email (I get that too—I guess that's standard now).
Then he has to prove that he's human. He has to scan a QR code, which takes him to a page on his phone where he can choose:
Fingerprint, biometric scan, or selfie. (All of which are forms of biometrics.)

His comment: "Okay, so X is probably joining the EU too—in that case, no more X."
I agree—I think that's really cheeky—especially since he can't be a bot if he's receiving the code via email and entering it.

Has anyone here ever experienced this?

hello MP
X doesn't require biometrics to log in except for premium accounts when they select it.

- verify if the mail came from " [email protected] " it's clean procedure. if it comes from another mail address, it's spam and scam . change password and clean the pc.

- biometrics for x are optional for premium accounts , verify with if he validated that option on his x account .

Thx for your answer.... he don´t have a premium account.
And it´s no e-mail. The Mail only sends the code...then you can enter the code on the site - and the site gives the QR Code...
You scan it and it goes to the phone.... with the requirement of the biometric data.

Never saw that before...

And the domain IS X.com , on all sites.

He can´t change his password, because he can´t login anymore.

If he succeed to log in , tell him to check the 2FA settings.
So he can recognize what he will receive in the future verification messages.

Go to :
Settings ... Security and account access ... security ... 2FA

alright , that can be a bot check security thing ... but via a third party company , not X team ( i hate all of this data gathering they do)

can he try this :

- clear his browser cookies and history .. close it and go in incognito mode .. reopen X website , try to log in
- open x on phone, if he dont have app , install it . log in and try to update birthday date and personal info and password

Incognity mode is my standard way to go when it comes to social media (except for tangled lol). Besides my browser does not store history or cookies. Both are deleted when i close it. but thank for your attempt to help, very much appreciated :)

Additionaly i tried using my laptop from work. A device with which i never have been on X before. So cookies and other crab cant be the cause why they give me that biometric BS. Really looks like no more X for Andy :(

Can VPN or proxy be the reason of such situation?

Nah, i dont think so. 1. They once banned me for reasons they never told me but unbanned me because i did nothing wrong. Since than i have never used a VPN when surfing on X. To be safe, i closed X whenever i turned on the VPN. Biometrics seems to be a new thing on X. 2. Go and try making a new account. No way without biometrics.

What's happening to you is one of few reasons I hate that platform.
Yes will create new account to test it

Weird a bit.
Another tiny thing to try
Reset the rooter , flush DNS (with CMD), turn off VPN if used.

No VPN to access X.
The router has a reset.

That´s so kind of you - yes, please try it :)
X is currently almost the only way for Germans to access uncensored news. My account is still working, but I'm trying to stay under the radar so it stays that way.

I just created an account and it didn't ask for biometrics.
Just showed an option to add a passkey to secure the account, I skipped it.
No trouble to create account except finding available username (I picked undoitmf 😅)

I simply never log out. No need to since no one else uses my computer.

Not an option on the pc. And a security flaw—our browsers clear their data when they close.

Advantage to living alone. I stay logged in on almost all sites I visit since there is no one else in the house to use the computer. I don't visit but a handful of sites & I don't 'surf' the web so I don't have to really worry about a hacker getting access to it.
