My relationship and my family First time officially…

My relationship and my family

First time officially posting here. I would like to hear anyone’s thoughts on how they told their family about their queerness and how their family handled it or treated them afterwards.

I have always dated men and in my experiences with them I have always felt very off, like I never cared about them and I always felt humiliated and disgusted that I was even with a man.

I just thought I was being unreasonable as I never in my life imagined it is a thing to feel something for a woman. My previous relationship was with a man, it recked me in a certain ways as I forced myself to accept that love and “submitted” to him as society says, unfortunately it didn’t end well; glad it didn’t because it made me more determined never to force myself to be what I am not.

Even after that experience, a male friend tried to rape me 🥲 goodness it’s been a lot with that gender.

Anyways, now there’s this beautiful girl that I started to see differently (in a romantic way of course) she likes me too and it’s been so peaceful, fun , loving and beautiful. But the issue now is my family is very religious I don’t want to tell them yet and my girl is understanding, she’s not even bothered by it but she said she hopes it won’t ruin our relationship. I have assured her I’d work it out to make sure it won’t.

I love my family so much, I don’t know if to tell them or hide it or stay away from them as I live far away in another country from them. I fear they might cut me off, I don’t worry about the cut off but how I might feel afterwards. Would this affect my mental health?
