College student getting into UI/UX design.
I'm a freshman at the University of Kansas, majoring in graphic design. One of my classes I'm enrolled in for the program is IXD or UI/UX design. Because the programs are so close together, I'm able to switch to UI/UX design, which is offered as a major. So far, I've enjoyed my UI/UX class, so I'm debating switching my major. I've seen on Google that UI/UX majors make a lot more than graphic design majors, and I wanted to know if that's true and why. I'm really interested in the UI/UX field, but I've heard it's competitive, but I'm assuming all fields are like that. Would having a degree from KU help in the UI/UX field? I'm also planning on getting internships throughout college to add to my resume. I'm just curious as to what this job field is, and if my degree will help me stand out. I know it will take a lot of work to get good at it, but is there anything I can minor in to help me with this career? Pretty much, I'm just wondering if this field is worth it and what could help me with getting jobs in the future.
